We are a beautiful vessel. Our vessel is made up of our mind, body and spirit. As we make our way through life we experience various trials. Our vessel can become worn and broken over time. For some of us, we feel that our life is in a million pieces with none of them fitting back together just right.
But the awesome news is...God can provide healing. He sees all those pieces on the ground and sees past them to the beauty of our whole self. Healing Broken Vessels, Inc. can provide a connection to other women who are in the process of healing. A safe haven of love and understanding. A start to an exciting journey of healing through programs that nurture development of wholeness.
Mary Stevenson composed a poem in 1936 titled "Footprints In the Sand". This poem is such a wonderful expression of how God walks beside us when our vessel is worn and broken. We offer this poem as a reminder as God's infinite love for us.
FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord, “You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
